Description
A second compositional variant within the 4th National Athletic Meeting commemorative print set, 1949. Like its companion panels in this 田型貼 format, it was produced as part of a coordinated commission rather than as an independent landscape design. Such institutional commissions became increasingly common for Hasui during the late 1940s and early 1950s as public organizations sought to mark anniversaries and events with high-quality printed souvenirs. The woodblock production process—hand-carved blocks, mineral and vegetable pigments on dampened [washi](/glossary/washi), [baren](/glossary/baren)-pressed—remains consistent with his landscape work despite the commemorative context, preserving the tonal delicacy and surface texture of the [shin-hanga](/glossary/shin-hanga) tradition.
