Description
A second commemorative print for the Okayama regional exhibition suggests that Hasui supplied two designs for the occasion, each representing a different aspect of the host region's scenic character. Both prints carry the title 岡山博 and were printed through the Watanabe Shōzaburō workshop using standard shin-hanga production: keyblock impression for architectural or landscape outlines, bokashi gradation in the sky block, and color registration across multiple additional blocks for foliage, water, or architectural pigmentation. The subjects most associated with Okayama in the tourist print tradition—the black castle, the Asahi River, the Inland Sea coastline—would have been filtered through Hasui's characteristic atmospheric sensibility, emphasizing light conditions and seasonal mood over topographic inventory. The pair of prints may have been sold together at the exposition or issued as a diptych to mark the event, with each design emphasizing a different facet of regional identity.
