Description

A second iteration of the No.15 entry within the Light, Time, Silence cycle, distinguished from the 1998 numbered impression by its alternate notation (#15 rather than No.15). Yamamoto's series is structured permissively, with numbered, lettered, and re-edited versions of the same title coexisting across the cycle's three-decade run. The print maintains the visual program of the series: stone lithography in monochrome, an interior architectural subject — chair, stair, threshold — observed for the way light and shadow move across its surfaces. As one of the higher-numbered states in the early portion of the series, the work sits within the period in which Yamamoto consolidated his mature manner, moving from his oil-painting training toward the stone matrix as primary support and confirming the spare, slow tonal drawing that has organized the practice ever since.
