Description
Issued as the twenty-third variation under Yamamoto's 'Light, Time, Silence' title, this lithograph continues the artist's sustained inquiry into quietly inhabited interiors. The print is pulled from a stone matrix in monochrome, in keeping with every other entry in the series since its beginning in 1992. Typical subjects across the run include wooden chairs set against panelled walls, staircases climbing into shadow, and doors standing partly open onto adjoining rooms — motifs in which the human figure is implied through residue rather than depicted directly. Stone lithography allows Yamamoto a continuous tonal scale from deep black through middle grays to the unprinted white of the sheet, and the series is built around this gradient. His parallel series — 'Sea Breeze,' 'Nostalgic Scenery,' 'The Sunshine Filtering through Foliage' — share the same atmospheric register and confirm that for Yamamoto, light and silence are the consistent subject regardless of the specific motif.
