Description
This 1954 ink-on-paper woodblock print depicts a landscape with a stream, rendered in the monochrome palette that Sasajima frequently employed. The stream winds through the composition, its course defining the spatial organization of the surrounding terrain. Sasajima's carved lines differentiate between the fluid character of water and the solid forms of the banks, rocks, and vegetation through which it passes.
