The title Ayase-gawa Asakusa-dera enkei combines two major eastern Tokyo landmarks: the Ayase River and Asakusa's Senso-ji temple. Prefixed as part of the Musashi Hyakkei no uchi ("One Hundred Views of Musashi Province") series, this undated woodblock print shows a broad river view with the temple complex visible in the distant background. The Musashi Province framing places the print within a long tradition of scenic landscape series stretching back through Hiroshige to Hokusai.
