Description
A Winter Day, an unlimited edition from 1988, shows Kaneko in his earlier career period, before the more strictly numbered editions of his later work. Winter in Kaneko's visual vocabulary tends to be rendered through graphic contrast rather than atmospheric suggestion: the bold geometries of snow-covered landscapes, bare branches against pale skies, or the colorful warmth of winter clothing against a cold environment. The unlimited edition suggests this was conceived as a widely accessible print for the domestic market.
