Description
Abstract composition on cream, textured paper dominated by a large irregular block of mottled indigo-black in the lower two-thirds, its surface covered with a fine crackled, web-like texture. Above it floats a large clam- or shell-like form rendered in black with tight parallel ridge lines, alongside a plain white oval and two small drops of color (grey and orange-yellow) near the shell's hinge. A red seal stamp appears in the lower left and pencil annotations ("Poem-11" and an edition number) in the lower margin; the mood is quiet and meditative, built from a restrained palette of black, indigo, cream, and small accents of white and orange. Woodblock print, ink and color on embossed paper, "Poem - 11" by Maki Haku, 1971.
