Poem 69-8, Shôwa period, 1969

Bold black brushstroke-like calligraphic strokes, including a form resembling the character 水 (water), are set against a cream, textured paper ground; a small white oval and a larger mustard-yellow oval sit near the top, with a single dark reddish-brown teardrop shape placed lower among the black strokes. A red seal appears in the upper right and another red seal in the lower left, with the pencil inscription "2/55," "Poem 69-8," and the artist's signature along the bottom margin. The composition is spare and abstract, limited to black, cream, white, yellow, and red-brown.
