Description
Two thick black bar-like lines curve down from the upper left, bending near the bottom into a small cluster of abstract calligraphic marks resembling stylized characters, above a horizontal black bar near the base. Two small mustard-yellow ovoid shapes sit beside the black lines, and an unpigmented embossed oval shape appears in the upper portion of the composition. The print is on heavily textured cream paper with a red artist's seal in the upper right and a second red seal beside the pencil edition number at lower left; "Poem '69-9" and the artist's signature are inscribed in pencil beneath the image. Maki Haku, 1969, woodblock print in ink and color on paper.
