Description

A tall vertical panel of embossed, uninked white paper fills the center, bordered by a wide band of solid orange; the raised, blind-printed surface shows abstracted, calligraphic character-like forms stacked top to bottom in low relief, visible only through shadow and texture rather than color. Two small solid marks break the white field: an olive-green circle near the upper third and a dark reddish-brown teardrop shape below center. A red seal stamp appears in the lower right of the orange border, with pencil annotations below the image (edition number, title "Poem 70-21," and the artist's signature); the work is a woodblock print by Maki Haku, titled *Poem 70-21 (Language)*, date unknown.
