Description
A tall, narrow vertical band of deep blue with a heavily textured, embossed surface runs down the center of a solid black ground, its edges undulating rather than straight. Pale abstract linear marks resembling pictographic or script-like symbols are incised across the blue band, interrupted by a solid red circle in the upper portion and a small yellow teardrop shape lower down. A red seal/signature mark appears in the lower left corner of the paper, with pencil annotations below the image; wide cream-white margins surround the composition. *Poem 70 – 28 (Word)*, Maki Haku, 1970, woodblock print, ink and color on embossed paper.
