Poem 70-64

A single abstracted black calligraphic character dominates the composition, its bold curving strokes rendered with tapered, brush-like edges against a plain off-white ground. A small red circular seal-like mark sits to the upper right of the character, with a smaller mustard-yellow teardrop shape beneath it; a red carved seal and thin vertical inscription appear in the lower right corner, with an edition number in pencil at the lower left. This woodblock print, titled "Poem 70-64" by Maki Haku, uses a restricted palette of black, red, and ochre on white.
