Description
Maki Haku's woodblock print *Work 76-25* (date unknown) shows an irregular, jagged-edged panel of rough, mottled mustard-gold set against a flat black ground. A pale cream linear form outlined in dark red runs across the gold field — a triangular loop at top enclosing a small orange dot, crossed by several horizontal rungs, then descending as parallel vertical lines that split into a three-pronged fork at the bottom right — while a solid turquoise circle sits alone in the black space at upper right and a red seal marks the lower-right corner of the gold panel. The heavy texture of the gold surface against the flat black ground gives the composition a spare, weathered quality.
