Work - Ho

A large abstracted black calligraphic form, its jagged strokes suggesting the character 火 (fire), dominates the right side of the composition against a mottled pale blue-grey ground with a woodgrain-like texture. To the left, two columns of cursive brush-written characters run vertically in black ink, with a small red seal stamped in the upper right corner and another seal near the lower left. Print details are inscribed in pencil below the image: the title "Work - Ho," an edition number, and the artist's signature, "Maki Haku," 1962.
