Description
This print was among more than forty impressions sold during a single nine-hour exhibition day, with roughly four hundred visitors passing through. The volume reflects the direct-sale model that anchors Cozzolino's full-time practice: rather than relying on gallery representation, she stages substantial exhibitions herself, handling installation, opening, and customer contact across consecutive long days. Each impression on offer was carved and printed by hand at her Avigliana studio on Japanese [washi](/glossary/washi) with water-based pigment, in keeping with the workflow she adopted in 2011 after abandoning aquatint etching for mokuhanga. The pace of sales at events of this kind reflects how steeply the European audience for contemporary mokuhanga has grown over her decade of practice. The print itself is signed and numbered from a small edition, its surface bearing the soft pigment absorption and visible paper grain that distinguish hand-pulled mokuhanga from press-printed editions. Within her broader catalogue, exhibition-released editions like this one often sell out quickly and are not reprinted.
