Description

Against a solid black ground, a figure wrapped in a green-and-pink patterned cloth or robe reclines head-down over the back of an orange-patterned armchair, one bare leg extended behind it; a second nude figure crouches on the white ground beneath the chair. The palette is limited to black, white, salmon-orange, and muted olive green, rendered in the flat, graphic shapes and visible print texture of lithography. *Number 5*, a 1971 lithograph by Masuo Ikeda from the series *Seven Lithographs*, printed on wove paper.
