Description
A pair of hands pressed together in prayer fills the composition, rendered in bold black woodgrain-textured strokes against unbleached cream paper, with the carved wood grain left visible as white striations running the length of the fingers. The image is cropped tightly and abstracted, showing only the clasped hands and a sliver of sleeve or forearm at lower left, with no other figure, background, or setting depicted. Below the print, in pencil, are the artist's annotations: an edition number (8/30), the title "Prayer," the date '94, and the signature "Matsubara," alongside a red carved seal at lower left.
