Description
Kayano Wasuke Tsunenari of the Gishi Shijushichi-zu series represents another warrior in the systematic documentation of the Ako vendetta's participants. Kayano was among the more obscure of the forty-seven, his individual historical record thin compared to figures like Oishi Kuranosuke, which made Gekko's task of individualization more creative—inventing a plausible human presence within the limited historical framework provided by the name and role.
