Description
Yada Goroemon Suketake of the Gishi Shijushichi-zu series continues the warrior portrait documentation. Yada's role in the forty-seven ronin story was that of a loyal participant whose individual actions within the raid were undistinguished by any particular incident, making his portrait one of the series' quiet presences—a face in the crowd of history, given by Gekko a distinct physiognomy and bearing that made him an individual rather than simply a number among the forty-seven.
