$1,000–$8,000. Common subjects: $1,000–$2,500. Key value factors: Hashimoto's bold castle prints are his most recognizable and collected works. Larger formats command premiums.
Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku-ji), dated 1958, presents the Higashiyama Jisho-ji temple in Kyoto — commonly known as the Silver Pavilion though it was never actually covered in silver — in Hashimoto's characteristically precise architectural rendering. The building's two-story structure, combining the aesthetic of a Zen temple with that of a shoin residential building, presented him with a complex architectural subject that rewarded close attention to proportional relationships. The surrounding garden, designed by the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa, was equally celebrated and may appear in the composition's background.
