$2,000–$15,000. Common subjects: $2,000–$4,000. Key value factors: As a living artist continuing the shin-hanga tradition, Binnie's prints are investment-quality. Limited editions and larger formats are most valued.
"Maple Leaves" (Momiji — though the standard reading for the autumn maple is more commonly momiji, Binnie titles it 'Momoji' in roman script) is a seasonal landscape focused on the most celebrated element of Japanese autumn: the brilliant reds and oranges of the turning Japanese maple. In the woodblock tradition, momiji scenes offer the printmaker an opportunity to demonstrate the full range of warm color, from the palest yellow through deep crimson, often arranged against the contrasting cool blue of water or sky. Binnie's [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) gradations give the seasonal color its characteristic atmospheric depth.
