Description
A standing woman in a green robe with a red sash-like form behind her rests a hand on the head of a kneeling figure in dark blue-black robes, set against a mustard-yellow background with a stylized dark green plant with round leaves and clustered berries or buds above them and slender white flowers at lower right. The bold black outlines, flat color fields, and stencil-like texture are characteristic of Sadao Watanabe's 1962 woodblock print "Woman of Canaan." The mood is quiet and devotional, conveyed through the gentle downward gesture of the standing figure's hand toward the bowed head of the kneeling one.
