The Street with White Wall Houses—title reconstructed from observation, the original unrecorded—shows Saito finding in the white-plastered walls of traditional Japanese townscape the geometric language most native to his formal approach. White plaster walls, their surfaces interrupted by tile-capped tops and dark wooden windows, create a composition of near-pure geometry: the same logic as his karesansui garden prints, but achieved through vernacular urban architecture rather than deliberate artistic design.
