"Korin, Showa period" — a second or variant treatment of the Ogata Korin subject — may differ from the other Korin print in format, compositional approach, or specific aspect of the Rimpa master being honored. Munakata's engagement with Korin was sustained across multiple works, reflecting a deep affinity with the seventeenth-century artist's willingness to push natural motifs toward pure decorative abstraction. Where Korin achieved this through painting and lacquerwork, Munakata found the same formal possibility through the woodblock's capacity for bold, clean-edged pattern.
