$500–$4,000. Common prints: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Ono's socially conscious prints and urban scenes are valued for both artistic quality and historical interest.
The red paper lanterns (akachochin) strung outside a narrow urban establishment — izakaya or small restaurant — gave Ono one of his warmest and most commercially appealing subjects. The lanterns' circular forms and saturated red stand out against the dark geometry of a compressed urban street, creating a visual warmth that contrasts with the cooler architectural prints. Ono renders the scene with the same flat, graphic authority he brings to bridges and cityscapes, but here the subject generates a more immediate sensory pleasure.
