$500–$4,000. Common prints: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Ono's socially conscious prints and urban scenes are valued for both artistic quality and historical interest.
Edition 1 of 4 from 1960, this river composition shows Ono at his most formally assured — water, banks, and sky resolved into bold horizontal bands that recall both the abstraction of Mark Rothko and the flattened planes of traditional Japanese landscape. The low edition number suggests an intimate production, with each impression hand-pulled by Ono himself in the sosaku-hanga tradition. The "kawa" (river) offers a subject of pure horizontal extension, perfectly suited to his reductive graphic style.
