Description
A numbered edition print — one of four — treating the urban landscape as a compressed, layered field of shape and color. Ono's urban landscape series are among his most characteristic works: direct observation of the city translated into flat, bold compositions that resist both the romantic prettiness of shin-hanga and the anecdotal quality of genre painting. Buildings become interlocking planes, streets become linear divisions, the whole resolved into a coherent graphic field.
