Description
"To the Morning Light — 朝の光へ" is one of the most explicitly hopeful titles in Yumeji's repertoire — an image of movement toward something brighter, a turning from the long night of private feeling toward the possibility of a new day. The figure moving toward morning light carries with her the ambivalence that characterizes all Yumeji's figures: the hope is real, but the night was also real, and the light ahead does not promise to be warm. The title's parallel with "Facing the Morning Light" (a slightly different composition) suggests his sustained return to this threshold moment.
