$1,000–$8,000. Common diary prints: $1,000–$2,500. Key value factors: Noda's innovative diary-print concept has earned him major museum recognition. Earlier works and larger formats command premiums.
Set in the small town of Weed, California — a community of fewer than three thousand people at the base of Mount Shasta — this September 2005 screenprint records one of the Diary series' most remote American locations. Noda visited Weed multiple times, drawn perhaps by the volcanic landscape and the stark contrast with Japanese geography. The town sits at 3,500 feet elevation, surrounded by pine forests and dominated by the massive snow-capped peak of Shasta. Pure screenprint technique gives the image a graphic clarity suited to the bold forms of the Northern California landscape. This is one of several Weed entries in the Diary, revealing a personal attachment to the place.
