Description
A return visit to Weed, California, two years after the 2005 entry, this September 2007 woodcut and silkscreen print continues Noda's engagement with the small Mount Shasta community. Where the 2005 version used pure screenprint, this edition employs the combined woodcut-silkscreen technique, adding carved-wood texture to the photographic imagery. Early September in Northern California means dry, warm days with smoke-hazed skies from wildfire season, and the volcanic landscape around Weed takes on a parched, golden quality. The repeated visits to this specific location reveal Noda tracking changes over time — the same place under different conditions, years apart.
