Description
A snow-capped Mount Fuji rises above a range of dark blue-grey hills, its slopes streaked with rock showing through the snow, under a pale blue sky fading to pink near the horizon with a few flat clouds. In the foreground a frost-covered, gnarled leafless tree trunk frames the right side of the scene, overlooking a calm indigo lake where a single small boat with one figure floats near the far shore. This woodblock print, "Lake Yamanaka in Winter" by Tsuchiya Koitsu, renders the scene in cool blues and whites with a hushed, wintry stillness.
