Koitsu's daytime landscapes and non-nocturnal scenes are less common on the primary market but still reflect his mastery of atmosphere and color. Values have risen steadily over the past decade.
In winter, Lake Yamanaka becomes one of Japan's starkest Fuji views — the snow-covered mountain rising above a lake partially frozen at its shores, the vegetation stripped of color, the sky a clear winter blue or grey. Koitsu uses the season's austerity to pare his composition to essentials: mountain, water, sky, and the thin line of the winter shore. The [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) treatment of the sky creates the chill of a still winter day with great economy of means.
