Koitsu's daytime landscapes and non-nocturnal scenes are less common on the primary market but still reflect his mastery of atmosphere and color. Values have risen steadily over the past decade.
A scene of rowboats on a Japanese river — likely the Sumida, the Tone, or one of the rivers surrounding Tokyo's older residential districts — captures the daily life of inland waterways that served as roads before modern infrastructure arrived. The rowers lean to their oars against a current rendered through the reflection-disturbing wake of their passage, the [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) sky above the water creating a continuous atmospheric envelope.
