Koitsu's daytime landscapes and non-nocturnal scenes are less common on the primary market but still reflect his mastery of atmosphere and color. Values have risen steadily over the past decade.
Numazu Harbor on Suruga Bay was one of the Tokaido's important stop-off points, where travelers could look across the bay to see both Mount Fuji and the Izu Peninsula on clear days. The harbor's fishing fleet and coastal transport vessels gave Koitsu a subject combining the maritime life of the bay with the distant mountain views that made the Tokaido coastline so scenically rich. The print participates in the long tradition of Tokaido travel art while bringing Koitsu's atmospheric sensitivity to a less frequently depicted harbor scene.
