Description
This woodblock print by Tsuchiya Koitsu (year unknown) pairs dense columns of Japanese calligraphic text, filling most of the horizontal sheet, with a small illustrated scene confined to the right edge. That scene shows white and pink lilies, slender grass blades, and trailing green leafy stems arranged in a black lacquered tray, with a pair of scissors resting below it and a red seal mark in the upper right corner. The palette is restrained — cream paper, black ink text, and soft pink, white, and green floral accents.
