Shungo Sekiguchi—another named individual in Azechi's output—preserves a specific person from the mountaineering or artistic community that surrounded him. Like other named portraits, this print gave the universal mountain man archetype a specific human identity, the bold simplified rendering keeping the figure within his established visual language while the name anchored it to an actual person whose relationship to the mountains was personally known to the artist.
