The Cheomseongdae astronomical observatory at Gyeongju in Korea — the 7th-century stone tower — is captured in Hiratsuka's woodblock with attention to the tower's unusual cylindrical form. The observatory's 362 stones are said to represent the days of the lunar year, and the structure's careful astronomical orientation is reflected in its elegant proportions. The undated print belongs to his ongoing Korean heritage documentation.
