Description
A black-and-white woodblock print rendered almost entirely in bold sumi-ink strokes on cream paper, depicting a Zen rock garden enclosed by a tiled wall and dense clusters of trees rendered in dense hatched foliage. Four irregular rock groupings punctuate a raked gravel expanse, indicated by fine parallel dot and line patterns, with a tiled roofline running along the upper wall and a red artist's seal stamped in the upper right. The composition is spare and graphic, built from stark contrasts of solid black, linear texture, and open cream ground; the work is by Hiratsuka Un'ichi, medium woodblock print, year unknown.
