Hiroshige produced an estimated 8,000 designs over his 40-year career, making him one of the most prolific masters of ukiyo-e. His market has strengthened significantly in recent years, with the 2025 Sotheby's Paris record of $2.4M and growing international collector interest.
Description
Echikawa, station 66 on the Kisokaido, sits in the broad Mino plain where the mountain highway descends from the highland passes toward the Pacific lowlands. This late Kisokaido print shows the station in its flat, agricultural setting — a landscape of rice paddies and low hills that marks the highway's final approach to its terminus at the old capital of Kusatsu.
