Description
A linocut from the 2024 Dante cycle whose title references Bodlib Press, a printing imprint linked to the Bodleian Library at Oxford — a fitting site for a project anchored in a canonical literary text. Ho was born in Oxford, and the print's nod to a Bodleian-associated press places the cycle within the lineage of artists' books and fine-press editions her practice has long engaged with. The image renders an emblem of the press itself — a device, colophon, or printerly mark — in the carved relief vocabulary the rest of the cycle shares, with linocut's flat shapes serving here as a quasi-typographic stamp. Within the Dante series the sheet functions partly as a colophon plate, locating the work in a specific institutional and biographical context. Across her broader practice, Ho moves between mokuhanga, linocut, vinyl engraving, screenprint, and intaglio, often producing accordion-folded artists' books and serialised print diaries; the Bodlib Press reference signals the cycle's affinity with that book-bound, press-rooted tradition.
