$500–$5,000. Common landscapes: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: Collaborative prints with Frank Brangwyn are most sought after.
Paul Jacoulet (1896–1960) was a French-born artist who spent most of his life in Japan and produced woodblock prints in collaboration with Japanese craftsmen that depicted Pacific island peoples and Asian subjects. This Urushibara print appears to be a portrait of Jacoulet himself — a fascinating document of the cross-cultural art world in which both men operated, where European and Japanese artists absorbed each other's traditions and occasionally depicted one another.
Curated cross-cuts that include this print.
Paul Jacoulet was created by Yoshijiro Urushibara (漆原木虫).
Paul Jacoulet depicts figures and portraits.
