Masks (red), Kabuki masks

A large red-and-black shishi (lion-dog) mask with bared white teeth, bulging white eyes, and shaggy red-striped mane dominates the composition, its snout curving downward at center. Two smaller stylized faces are tucked beside and beneath it — one in the upper right with slicked dark hair, a headband, and an open laughing mouth, the other lower center with white hair, closed eyes, and a broad grin — both dressed in patterned kimono (diamond and floral motifs in tan, red, and black); a cluster of round pale beads or fruit sits in the lower right corner. The palette is limited to red, black, tan, and cream against an unpainted paper ground, with bold black outlines and flat color fields typical of the woodblock medium; the print is signed "Y.M." in the lower right.
