Hiroki Morinoue

Hiroki Morinoue (森之上博紀, born 1947) is a Japanese-American printmaker based in Hawaii who creates woodblock prints that draw on both his Japanese heritage and the tropical landscape of his adopted home. His work combines elements of the mokuhanga tradition with subjects and sensibilities shaped by the Hawaiian environment — its lush vegetation, volcanic landscapes, and the rich cultural mix of the islands. Morinoue has exhibited in Hawaii and on the US mainland, and his prints are held in private collections. He is recognized as a distinctive voice in the Pacific region's contemporary printmaking community.
