Blue Fruit

A single large blue-black gourd hangs at center, its skin partly peeled to reveal a cream-colored patch dotted with dark brown spots. Green heart-shaped leaves, curling tendrils, and twisting brown vines fill the surrounding space against a dark background, with a pink-and-white striped beetle perched on a leaf at upper right. "Blue Fruit," painted by Asako Iwasawa in 2020 in acrylic on canvas, uses flat, saturated color and bold outlines throughout.
