Description
"Twilight in the Field" (2020) by Asako Iwasawa, acrylic on canvas, depicts three long-tailed dragonflies—one with translucent black wings and a slender pale body, two with solid black wings—hovering and perched amid tall arching blades of grass and small white-flowered plants. The composition is built in flattened, silhouetted layers: bright yellow-green grass blades in the foreground against deep blue-black foliage, with a pale sky and a horizon band of lighter blue suggesting dusk light over water in the distance. The artist's red seal appears in the lower right corner.
