Description
Rainbow offers Fukita an opportunity to exploit the full chromatic range achievable through multiple woodblock impressions on washi. A landscape subject by classification, this print likely abstracts the arc of spectral color into a structural element — a banding or sweeping passage that organizes the pictorial space rather than describing a specific location. Fukita's experimental approach to color means the rainbow is not rendered literally but interpreted: its hues may shift unexpectedly, compress into unexpected adjacencies, or dissolve at their edges through bokashi gradation.
