Mount Fuji, Japan's most iconic natural landmark, is rendered in this composition designated "D" — the fourth in a series of Fuji studies, suggesting Kitaoka's sustained engagement with the subject across multiple formal approaches. Unlike traditional ukiyo-e renderings of Fuji that often embedded the mountain in elaborate scenic context, Kitaoka's geometric approach tends to isolate the mountain's essential form: the perfect symmetrical cone, the snowcapped peak, the characteristic dark silhouette against sky — stated with modernist clarity.
