$400–$3,000. Kabuki actor portraits are highly collectible. Good landscapes: $1,000–$2,000. Key value factors: Okuyama's prints are relatively affordable. Bold, well-preserved examples are most valued.
"Taninakamura" (谷中村河童画房) depicts a location or establishment in Tokyo's Yanaka district — specifically what appears to be a kappa (water sprite) painting studio or gallery in the village-like Taninakamura area of Yanaka. Yanaka was one of the few Tokyo neighborhoods to survive the combined devastation of the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake and World War II bombing, preserving its Meiji and Taisho-era temple-district character. The kappa painting reference suggests an artist's studio with a whimsical self-designation. Okuyama's rendering captures the neighborhood's distinctive preserved-old-Tokyo character.
