Description

A nude woman is seen from behind and in three-quarter profile, seated on a red cushion patterned with white floral motifs, her upper body twisting so her face turns back toward the viewer with a downward gaze. Her dark hair is piled in a high, looped chignon, and a dark blue cloth with a white geometric/wave pattern is draped over her shoulder and pools around her lower body against a plain pale grey background. This 1920 woodblock print, "Woman After Bath" by Hashiguchi Goyō, renders her skin in smooth, pale, unshaded tones set against the print's limited palette of indigo, red, and cream.
