Key value factors: Edition order (first Watanabe/Doi printing vs. posthumous reprints) is crucial. Snow scenes, night views, and bijin-ga typically command premiums. Publisher seals and artist signatures authenticate first editions.
A fifteenth untitled [bijin-ga](/glossary/bijin-ga) by Hirezaki Eiho (1881–1968). The publisher Watanabe Shozaburo, who issued many of Eiho's finest works, was instrumental in bringing Meiji and Taisho bijin-ga to international collectors, and the prints he published — including Eiho's — were among the first Japanese woodblocks to enter Western private and institutional collections in significant numbers. Eiho's work in this international context served as many Western collectors' primary point of contact with the bijin-ga tradition.
